Centrifuge – Thursday

Theme for the day?  Drama!

After a little mid-week drama, all is well from camp, well, except for Macy’s finger, which is probably either dislocated or fractured.  I’m glad to report that Delaney’s big toe is better today and moving back to normal position!  A little bit of homesickness added to some strange food had Holly start passing around tums.

Speaking of drama, you should be very proud of Elijah and Jessica.  Both were featured in tonight’s Variety Show.  Elijah was the star of a video created by his Track class and Jessica acted in a drama with her Track class.

On the serious side, can I just share how awesome it is to see nearly every one of our kids at the altar tonight?  Some went as a group; some went alone; but there were no dry eyes in the house tonight!

The word of the day was sacrifice.  We studied about Hannah and her defining moment.  What do you have that you need to give back to the Lord?

There’s only 2 pictures today.  I’ll post Holly’s pictures tomorrow.

Centrifuge – Wednesday

Wednesday brought lots of sunshine and extra “hang time” today.  Most of the CBC youth could be found in the pool or in the gym.  Kevin and April both attempted to beat Neal in a game of pool, but to no avail.  And like a good husband, Neal credits all of his pool “wizardry” to watching Karen play.

Today’s bible study was on Daniel and his obedience.  Our camp pastor asked us “What do you need to say yes to in order to obey God more?  What do you need to say no to?”  Great questions for all of us, huh?

On the funny side, you’ll have to ask Delaney about her big toe and ask Holly about the “man in black” (no, not Johnny Cash!)

One camper lost his key but I’m glad to report was found (which is a good thing because the replacement cost was $30!) and another has lost his bible (which is still lost, so please pray that it is found!)

One last thought – even though I’m posting a lot of recreation pics, did you know that campers are in bible study or worship for nearly 5 hours each day?  Plus they have devotions at each of the track / game times.

Centrifuge – Tuesday

After waking up before the roosters, showering and getting all gussied up, we walked to breakfast – in the rain – which made for some bad hair days!

Today’s defining moment bible study character was Jonah and the theme was LOVE.  (Warning – never say the word “love” again around your house, or your youth will break out in a spontaneous version of the word of the day!  We even captured Neal doing the “love” move tonight during the group devotions!)

You might be thinking that Jonah is an odd love story – that’s OK – we did too.  But think about it.  Although he was a prophet, Jonah didn’t love a certain group of people – the Ninevites.  So he ran.  But God will always accomplish His will and He gives us multiple chances to be a part of it.  We talked today that all of us are like Jonah – we all have people that we aren’t fond of – and all of us have either acted like we are ignoring God and turned the other way.

And just like God sent a “great wind” (aka storm) to Jonah, He sent us rain too – several times in fact!   Amanda counted at least 5 times today she had been soaked.  But all turned out well!

Today’s defining moments:

He probably won’t tell you, but ask Alex about his most embarrassing camp story!

2 youth have already asked if we can do this again next year (a good sign on day 2!)

OK, you know I have to throw a serious one in.  Tonight before worship, I had the privilege of praying over our 2 rows, asking God to flood each of youth with the overwhelming feeling of His love.  His presence was so strong!  But He also gave me this insight:  Just like Jonah chose to not do the right thing the first time around, we can’t make our youth make all the right decisions the first time around either.  Unfortunately, all of us learn those lessons along the way.  But hopefully, we won’t have to get swallowed up by a great fish in order for God to get our attentions.

Tonight’s camp mixer was a county fair.  Alex’s straw hat and rolled up jeans were perfect for the event.  Several others dressed up as well.

Tomorrow we learn about obedience.  Yes, parents, we’ll make sure your child stays awake for these lessons!

Here are some other random pictures of the day.  Roll your mouse over the pictures for commentaries:

Following the wake – up AM show, the kids go to Rec time and must complete several challenges in teams.  Below you will see a variety of the stations.

Centrifuge – Monday

Ahh, church camp!  Bring back memories?  We hope to create a few this week for the youth of CBC.  It’s midnight; lights were out 30 minutes ago.  I’m proud to report all of our girls are tucked in, ready for a good night’s sleep.  (Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the other group on the hallway.)  The boys are in a different dorm across campus – I pray they all go to sleep soon!

The theme for Fuge 10 is “kairos” – defining moments.  The youth will be studying 5 characters from the bible and their defining moments.  Today we have talked a lot about distractions.  Pray that God removes distractions from our lives this week in order to better focus on Him!
